Sai Mirra Innopharm Pvt Ltd (SMIPL) was promoted in April 2000 by Mr.V.S.Raaman, one of the promoter directors of the erstwhile leading pharmaceutical company namely, American Remedies Ltd. Mr.V.S.Raaman was a Whole-time Director and an integral part of the team that built American Remedies from scratch to a level of around Rs.100 crores in a span of 20 years. American Remedies was known as a niche formulation player with a flair for introducing products with high patient compliance. Given the attractive product profile of ARL, Dr Reddy Laboratories Ltd (DRL) acquired the company (ARL) in Dec.1999 and subsequently the manufacturing facilities of the erstwhile ARL at Ambattur in Chennai were acquired by SMIPL, to commence its activities as a sub contractor for DRL.

Sai Mirra has its sole manufacturing infrastructure at Ambattur, Chennai. The facility is well equipped to manufacture Tablets, Capsules, Liquids, Creams and Ointments, Powders in Sachets and Soft Gelatin capsules. The facility has been audited by Food and Drug authorities of many of the buyer countries and is a WHO GMP compliant certified facility.

SMIPL in 2008 hived off its marketing and national branded formulation business, along with the brands and the entire field force, to a new joint venture company, with a strategic partner. The focus now has entirely been on contract manufacturing for local and foreign manufacturers /sellers.

SMIPL currently exports its products (contract manufacturing for overseas buyers) to Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Myanmar, Cambodia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Philippines, Nigeria, Kenya, Congo, Niger, Zambia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Gambia, Sierra Leone, Mauritius, Russia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Fiji, Peru and Jamaica. The strategy for exports would be to register the Generic Formulation, the Nutraceutical and OTC products in a large number of countries, apart from strengthening and expanding the existing markets served.
